About Lucy

The writer behind the words

Lucy Addams

My Writing Journey

I began writing at a young age, driven by a familiar frustration: reaching the end of a story and wanting more. That impulse to continue, reshape, and create, led me to start writing my own scenes and characters early on. What began as private experimentation gradually became a long-term commitment to storytelling as a craft.

My first completed project was a fan-made novel inspired by Merlin, printed for personal use. While imperfect, it marked a turning point. Holding a finished book, however early in my development, made the creative process tangible and confirmed that writing was not a passing interest, but a path worth pursuing seriously.

Over time, I refined my voice through consistent practice, experimentation, and study, learning how structure, character, and theme work together to create stories that resonate.

Writing Across Page and Screen

My work spans short fiction, novels, and screenplays. I am equally drawn to the precision of short stories and the long-form development of novels, and I specialize in writing for the screen, where stories come alive through performance and visual language.

I am particularly interested in character-driven narratives; stories shaped by internal conflict, psychology, and choice. Many of my scenes originate visually, which naturally led me toward screenwriting and cinematic storytelling. My goal is to develop projects that translate across mediums while remaining grounded in strong narrative fundamentals.

Craft, Research and Character

My writing is informed by a combination of historical research, psychology, and lived experience. Studying English and Philosophy at university strengthened my analytical and research skills, which I apply directly to world-building, character motivation, and thematic coherence.

Independent historical study allows me to identify recurring human patterns—power structures, belief systems, conflict, and resilience—which form the backbone of my fictional worlds. I approach character creation through a psychological lens, focusing on internal logic, emotional realism, and growth over time.

These influences carry across genres, from urban fantasy to romance and drama, and support stories that feel grounded, intentional, and emotionally credible.

Writing Philosophy

I aim to write stories that respect the reader’s intelligence. Rather than instructing or moralizing, I focus on invitation, creating narratives that encourage reflection, emotional engagement, and interpretation. Whether working on serialized fiction, standalone novels, or screenplays, my objective remains consistent: to craft stories that feel alive, character-led, and purposeful; stories that linger after the final page or final scene.
